Message from Bishop Bosco Puthur

Way back in 1963 when Pope Paul VI solemnly promulgated the Decree of the
Second Vatican Council ON THE MEDIA OF SOCIAL COMMUNICATIONS,
INTER MIRIFICA, then as a young seminarian, I wondered if it is so important for the
Church and the world that such a solemn assembly of the Church, the Ecumenical
Council, issue a document on the media. Now, after more than half a century, as the
digital media, for that matter any media, dominates the world, I understand, how
foresightful it was from the part of Church! I wonder with amazement how fast our
life is influenced by the media, for good or bad. Media is the torchbearer of truth,
which leads us to justice, peace, freedom and communion. Mostly, the young people
are the promoters and beneficiaries and sometimes even victims of the media.
I hope and pray that SMYM NZ Website connects with all our youth in New Zealand
and beyond, helping them to grow in their experience of the discipleship of Jesus and
the love of God the Father, and the communion of the Holy Spirit. After our own
family, Parish community is the primary domain wherein we experience the
fellowship and communion of our faith, by sharing the Word of God and the
Sacraments and bearing witness to the works of Charity.
I wish and pray that SMYM and its Website becomes powerful means for promoting
this communion. May God bless those who work behind the project and all who
benefit from it! With this wish and prayer, I am happy to send this Message to the
SMYM NZ Website.
Yours in Jesus,

Bishop Bosco Puthur

Message from Fr.George Areeckal

I am happy to note that the NZ SMYM is launching its website. It is a sure sign of the dynamism of the members of SMYM in NZ. What our youth are doing is incredible and inspiring. Because of COVID -19 and the consequent lockdowns, the times are rough. And in these rough times, you have all stepped up to the plate in any way you could. You have been very caring and generous, thus shining out as Christ’s light in the world and offering hope to all especially to the youth. May the Lord continue to bless the efforts of SMYM in NZ to live and communicate Christ to all.
God bless
